Summary

The Vice President of Information Technology provides executive leadership for all technology functions and serves as a strategic business partner to the leadership team. This role is responsible for aligning technology capabilities with business priorities, advancing digital initiatives, and ensuring the effective delivery of technology services across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a multi-year technology strategy aligned with the organization's business objectives and growth priorities.
  • Partner with executive leadership to identify opportunities where technology can improve operational efficiency, customer experience, business performance, and competitive advantage.
  • Establish technology roadmaps that balance innovation, scalability, risk management, and cost effectiveness.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on emerging technologies, industry trends, and digital opportunities.
  • Establish governance processes that prioritize technology investments and align resources with strategic business objectives.
  • Oversee the enterprise portfolio of technology initiatives to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and with measurable business value.
  • Develop metrics and executive reporting that measure operational performance, service quality, technology investment outcomes, and alignment to business objectives, using data-driven insights to drive accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Promote a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement across the IT organization.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for enterprise applications, infrastructure, network services, cloud environments, end-user computing, and technical support functions.
  • Ensure the reliability, availability, performance, and scalability of technology systems supporting business operations.
  • Establish service delivery standards and performance expectations that support business needs and enhance user satisfaction.
  • Drive modernization efforts to improve efficiency, simplify technology environments, and reduce technical debt.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy that protects organizational assets, information, and business operations.
  • Ensure effective technology governance, risk management, disaster recovery, and business continuity capabilities.
  • Oversee compliance with applicable regulatory, privacy, and security requirements.
  • Evaluate and mitigate technology and vendor-related risks while maintaining a resilient technology environment.
  • Establish a technology framework that enables the effective use of enterprise data, analytics, automation, and artificial intelligence.
  • Partner with business leaders to identify opportunities to leverage data-driven insights that improve decision-making and operational performance.
  • Drive adoption of emerging technologies that create measurable business value and support organizational objectives.
  • Oversee data governance and information management practices that ensure accuracy, accessibility, and security.
  • Develop and manage the annual IT operating and capital budgets.
  • Ensure technology investments are aligned with business priorities and deliver measurable returns.
  • Provide transparency into IT costs, service performance, and technology investment outcomes.
  • Lead vendor selection, contract negotiations, and strategic partner relationships to optimize value and service delivery.
  • Build, develop, and retain a high-performing technology organization capable of supporting current and future business needs.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
  • Develop leadership capabilities within the IT organization and support workforce planning and succession readiness.
  • Champion effective communication and collaboration between IT and business stakeholders across the enterprise.

Knowledge and Skills

  • 10+ years as IT Director or IT leadership experience with progression into enterprise level roles
  • Proven experience leading large scale IT operations and transformation initiatives
  • Experience managing enterprise portfolios, governance, and budgets.
  • Strong data engineering, analytics, automation skills for manufacturing, supply chain, and distribution.
  • Comfortable building programs from scratch.
  • Executive-level communication and stakeholder management.

Education and Experience

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, Engineering, or related field required.
  • MBA or advanced degree preferred.

Technical Knowledge

  • Broad knowledge of enterprise applications, ERP systems, cloud technologies, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and data platforms.
  • Understanding of emerging technologies including artificial intelligence, automation, advanced analytics, and digital transformation solutions.
  • Knowledge of technology governance, risk management, business continuity, and information security principles.

Business Acumen

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing, supply chain, distribution, and commercial business operations.
  • Financial acumen with the ability to evaluate technology investments, operational costs, and business value.
  • Ability to balance innovation, risk, operational stability, and business priorities.

Communication & Influence

  • Ability to communicate complex technology concepts to executive and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong stakeholder management, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to influence decisions and build alignment across diverse business functions.

Leadership

  • Demonstrated leadership presence with the ability to inspire, develop, and retain high-performing teams.
  • Ability to lead organizational change and drive adoption of new technologies and processes.
