Summary

This position oversees all aspects of distribution center operations including transportation, inventory control, and customer service for the facility and the assigned geographical territory. Key responsibilities are employee relations and engagement, safety and security, cost control, inventory accuracy and controls, productivity management, quality, workload planning, customer service, load planning, and facilities management.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all operational aspects of the facility in order to manage and optimize the efficient flow of goods in and out of the distribution center
  • Direct and monitor daily activities to ensure safety, quality, cost, and people objectives are realized
  • Achieve financial objectives by managing the sites operating budget and expenses, along with staffing levels and productivity, in order to maintain a cost-effective operation
  • Create an environment that promotes a strong sense of teamwork and a culture of respect, by working together safely, effectively, respectfully, and efficiently, with all associates
  • Monitor and maintain associate productivity performance and development by coaching, counseling, motivating, and encouraging professional growth and administer corrective action, when necessary, in alignment with company policies
  • Drive operational changes as required and foster a continuous improvement culture
  • Actively listen and effectively communicate with all company associates, customers, carriers, and 3PLs, to ensure the right product is in the right place at the right time
  • At the direction of the Supply Chain Leadership Team, work on strategic and special projects to drive improvement in cost, efficiency, and operational capabilities
  • Leverage data analytics to identify trends, drive continuous improvement, and enhance operational efficiency
  • Maintain up-to-date key performance metrics, dashboards, and create reports for internal and external customers and management as required
  • Oversee, implement, and maintain compliance with company and OSHA guidelines to create and maintain a safe working environment for all associates
  • Prevent associate incident and injury, by overseeing accident investigations, near miss reporting, root cause analysis and implementing necessary improvements to policies and procedures

Knowledge and Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate others
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to influence all levels of staff
  • Proven ability to organize department work functions in an efficient and effective manner
  • Demonstrated leadership presence and must have the ability to positively influence culture
  • Must demonstrate effective coaching and mentoring skills
  • Strong relationship management skills and ability to collaborate effectively with the executive team
  • Tactful, diplomatic, and collaborative with internal and external customers and suppliers

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree highly preferred
  • 10+ years of Supply Chain or Manufacturing experience including 5+ years in a management or supervisory role
  • Lean Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen, and project management experience.
  • Experience with SAP, warehouse, and transportation management systems
  • APICS CSCP Certification a plus
  • ISO/TS 16949 experience a plus
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to remain standing or moving on feet for 2-3 hours a day
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position, often sitting for prolonged periods of time while working on a computer
  • Ability to repeat motions that include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and or move up to 20 pounds
