Summary

We’re looking for a technically sharp and solutions-driven professional to lead our facilities and utilities operations at Yokohama. As the Facilities & Utilities Engineer, you’ll be responsible for the performance and reliability of the systems that keep our operation running—from power distribution and steam generation to HVAC and water utilities. With a strong focus on electrical engineering and compliance, this role requires a professional who can manage complex systems, support a team, and balance both long-term projects and immediate facility needs. This is a high-impact role for someone who enjoys solving problems, thrives in a fast-paced industrial environment, and takes pride in keeping essential systems operating at their best.

Responsibilities

As the Facilities & Utilities Engineer, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the integrity and efficiency of the core systems that support plant operations. You’ll lead a small but capable team and collaborate with departments across the facility to keep everything running smoothly. In this role, you will

  • Manage and maintain plant-wide electrical power distribution systems with an emphasis on safety, reliability, and compliance
  • Oversee boiler operations, compressed air systems, and other essential utilities - ensuring all are operating within regulatory standards
  • Lead and coordinate facilities maintenance including HVAC, fire protection, water treatment, and general building systems
  • Supervise and support two direct reports responsible for storeroom operations and facility maintenance
  • Create, monitor, and manage the annual utilities and facilities budget
  • Identify and lead projects that improve efficiency, reliability, and sustainability—particularly around utilities conservation
  • Support environmental, health, and safety compliance across all systems and equipment
  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications using AutoCAD to troubleshoot or upgrade systems
  • Respond to facility needs with a sense of urgency and attention to detail, balancing daily maintenance with long-term planning
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to support a safe and productive work environment

Education and Experience

Our ideal candidate would have the following experience and attributes. However, we believe in a culture that recognizes not everyone’s path is the same. If you feel your knowledge and abilities will be successful in this role, we encourage you to apply.

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
  • At least 10 years of experience in facilities, utilities, or power systems management (manufacturing/industrial setting preferred)
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical power distribution systems
  • Solid working knowledge of HVAC systems, steam boilers, compressed air, chilled water, and related utilities
  • Familiarity with relevant codes and regulations—NFPA, OSHA, EPA, and local building codes
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Autodesk/AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills—you can see the root issue and act fast
  • A service-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to supporting internal customers
  • Adaptability and composure when priorities shift—because they will
  • Professional, dependable, and ready to take accountability for big-picture systems
  • Leadership or supervisory experience is a plus, but a collaborative and responsible mindset is essential
