Responsibilities

As the Electrical Engineer – Plant Utilities, you’ll play a key role in keeping our operation powered, safe, and efficient. You’ll balance technical expertise with cross-functional collaboration and innovation to ensure our core systems support production without interruption. You will also have a strong, experienced leadership team to partner with as you continue to learn the Yokohama standard of excellence and grow both personally and professionally. In this role, you will:

  • Oversee the plant’s electrical power distribution network to ensure safety, reliability, and compliance
  • Support daily operations of plant utilities including electrical, steam, water, and compressed air systems
  • Conduct assessments of utility systems, identifying opportunities for preventative maintenance and long-term improvements
  • Manage portions of the utilities budget, tracking costs and identifying savings opportunities
  • Contribute to projects that improve efficiency, reliability, sustainability, and compliance with energy conservation goals
  • Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documents to guide repair, replacement, or upgrades
  • Respond to facility needs with a sense of urgency and attention to detail, balancing daily maintenance with long-term planning
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to support a safe and productive work environment

Knowledge and Skills

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Three or more years of experience in facilities, utilities, or power systems management (manufacturing/industrial setting preferred)
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical power distribution systems
  • Awareness of relevant codes and regulations—NFPA, OSHA, EPA, and local building codes
  • Familiarity with Autodesk/AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills—you can see the root issue and act fast
  • A service-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to supporting internal customers
  • Comfortable juggling priorities and adapting when conditions shift
  • Professional, dependable, and ready to take accountability for big-picture systems
